In 1988 my Uncle Frankie and his family lived in Bermuda. They could get a Nintendo Entertainment System for cheaper than we could in Canada, so I swindeled my parents into getting one for me.
It was a beautiful summer day when Uncle Frankie came to visit, armed with my shiny new NES. Everyone hung around our pool having a great time in the sun, but all I wanted to do was sit in my bedroom and play Super Mario Bros. Mom had already busted me once… “Get outside and play, it’s beautiful out there!”, so the rest of the day I was sneaking inside for 10 minutes at a time to stomp some Goombas when nobody was watching.
It was awesome.
